Professional Portfolio and SlideShow Ppt.

My professional portfolio is in the making. It' something that my future employers can refer to to be able to see some of my accomplishments as a teacher in training, as well as my personal background. It'll give them a chance to get to know me as an individual who will hopefully not be a regret to them when hired ;) . Here's the website:http://clarecruz08.weebly.com/ Make sure you take a look at it and maybe you can give me feedback on what I can do to make it better..

In addition, you can see my power-point presentation on this website: http://www.slideshare.net/clarecruz/using-
technology-as-a-remedial-resource-to-improve
I am particularly proud of this one. It's entitled "Using Technology as a Remedial Resource to Improve Student Learning". With this project, I was able to find lots and lots of resources that proved technology is a great tool to improve student learning. It is an even greater tool for English Language Learners and Students with disabilities. If get a chance to take a look at it, I've place some really great pictures to match the purpose and importance of technology. I hope you gain some knowledge from the information I've provided. Enjoy! ;)

My experience..

My Flat Stanley project was a great experience. Having done this in the classroom brought a new perspective on teaching to me. I found that integration does work effectively and with that, bringing new ideas creates a better learning environment and it keeps the students interested in learning. My students were so excited to have been a part of this wonderful project and I hope that they share their fun ideas with other students who weren't able to experience this. I plan to make this project a part of all the lesson plans I create because it integrated a lot of different learning. I am so glad that I was introduced to this project. As you can see, pictures say a million words. It's hard to explain. With this project alone, I was able to bring out creativity and imagination. If only you were there to see and hear all the things that were coming out of their mouths! It was unbelievable! Students come up with the wildest ideas and stories! It's unforgettable! I hope you enjoy the pictures and the movie. They will tell you everything!!

Oral Presentation Rubric for: An Autobiography

OMG! Where has this program been??!!! I used to always create rubrics on my own and find myself lost half of the time because I never know what criteria to use! I am so, so, so glad to have found this website! It was so easy!!!! And for the most part, it gives you assessing criterion that focus on what the teacher is looking for.

This was a test-run. That's why I didn't make it match my Flat Stanley Project. This program actually made me so excited! What a way to make teachers' lives easy!!! I will definitely use this in my class!!

What I liked the most about it is it has a set criteria to focus on and tells the student exactly what you are looking for, as I mentioned earlier. I couldn't find exactly what I disliked about it, however I think it would be great it there was a set mode to keep the rubric short and simple. *KISS -- but I think I didn't browse enough to figure that out. I was just too excited! :)

Using rubrics to asses students is a great way of telling them exactly what needs to be done and how to do it. I find myself lost sometimes when there's a presentation or a test coming up and I have no rubric to follow. I think I've become too used to having a rubric given to me before a test or presentation. It also helps students identify what important concept to focus on and the teacher gets exactly what he or she expects.

My Flat Stanley Newsletter

I decided to do a newsletter for Flat Stanley. I used letterpop.com. It was pretty interesting. My only difficulty was actually getting the image together. I took awhile too because I wanted to come up with an interesting concept about Flat Stanley. I love the layouts that letterpop has. There are so many different ones. It was also hard to choose the right template. Hehehe.. But I am sure to use this for my future classroom. I'm sure parents will be thrilled!

WebQuest Assignment

My group members for the WebQuest assignment are Diane and Laurence. Laurence and Diane have already given a very broad insight of our WebQuest assignment, so I don't want to bore you by saying the same thing. However, I do want to share that this assignment was particularly interesting to me because it actually means what it's named (webquest). I like how it works! It makes giving internet assignments a breeze! For the most part, the student goes online and doesn't have to leave surfing the net or browsing through the assignments unless they have to, of course. What even makes it more accommodating to students, is that if a student has to be absent, they can easily access the assignment online and know what to do without missing out on anything. I especially like how the teacher edits the assignments. Like posting up pictures of their liking that relates to the assignment. It's almost like a textbook online. Zunal.com has neat features that make everything easy flowing. The only down part about it would be that you can't preview your work to see if there are any changes you need to make. You'd have to publish it in order to preview it and if I'm not mistaken, that makes everything official. Other than that, I enjoyed working with my group members and putting together a very collaborative assignment that required some of our imagination. The Solar System was a great assignment and I hope I get the chance to execute this lesson plan someday. It seems very fun and interesting! If you want to see what we've put together, our url is http://zunal.com/webquest.php?user=8079 I hope you enjoy it!!
